We recently came back from our first all-inclusive resort experience and we felt like a king (and queen). In this post, I will describe the hotel and the experience.
Me and Mrs Vieira decided to run away from the cold and celebrate our anniversary in a warm place and as we always wanted to visit Cancun we chose it as our destination.
We usually do low-cost trips but this time we decided to splurge and stay in an all-inclusive resort as it was a special anniversary for us. We chose a package in Costco Travel for Wyndham Grand Cancun All-Inclusive Resort & Villas as it was a good price for us.
As we arrived in Cancun we could feel the difference, in Vancouver the weather was around 4°C, and in Cancun, it was around 30°C.
Wyndham Grand Cancun All-Inclusive Resort & Villas
We started feeling like kings when we got to the hotel, as we didn’t even need to pick up our backpacks from the transfer van, the hotel bellboys did it.
the resort
The resort is very complete. Has an excellent view of the ocean, a lot of restaurants, beach access, and three (or more) pools.
We didn’t use much the pools, mostly only a few times mainly at night as we preferred to stay in the beach for most of the day.
the room
Because of our anniversary, we got a free room upgrade and also a bottle of sparkling wine, it was nice of them to provide that.
It was really comfortable, more than we needed as we mostly just came back to the room to sleep and shower. We tried to stay as much as possible outside.
the beach
The beach in front of the resort is nice and larger than the other hotels around. When we went to the beach flag warning was all red but we could go into the water at the border. The water was really clear and the temperature was really good.
We stayed most of the time on the beach, we usually went there around 8 AM and stayed until 3 PM below a beach cabana, just going to the ocean to refresh ourselves, drinking, reading, and enjoying the view. I even finish the book Same as Ever there.
the food
The food was spectacular, mainly during dinner in the restaurants where we needed to make reservations. The one we liked the most was Da Vinci which was Italian cuisine. We ate a bit of everything there. Second was La Vista which is Brazilian food (the one that comes in the stick on your table). The Pina Grill was also great, but we ate seafood for lunch there a lot so we preferred the others for dining.
the drinks
The drinks are also very good, there are so many options that we didn’t know what to order. We drank a lot of Pina Colada, Margerita, Dirty Monkey, Caipirinha and beer. The bartenders were really nice and the waiters were as well.
A few drinks that we drank: Pina Colada, dirty monkey, margarita, cosmopolitan, beer, mango tango, michelada, mojito, caipirinha, and dry martini. Our favorite was Pina Colada.
Special thanks to Antonio, the bartender from Kukus Bar, and Francisco, the bartender from the lobby bar.
the entrainment
Another thing that is worth mentioning is the entertainment staff. Alan (or Alain) was very nice and friendly, always trying to make people laugh. The shows that they had during the night were nice as well.
We loved the experience and we are recommending it to all our friends. It is not a cheap thing, but it is nice to do it every few years for a celebration when you just want to relax and enjoy the place.
